Sail Safe, Home Safe

Employee safety is an important message for companies to convey, but not always the most interesting or engaging topic. We looked to present Siemens Gamesa’s Sail Safe campaign, encouraging best safety practices at sea, to the right people in a hard-hitting, but entertaining manner.

We began production with storyboards. As well as helping the client to visualise our concept, this aids us with planning the set-up, framing and pace of the actual film. It’s always time well spent as this process enables us to be so much more efficient on set. The entire filming took place over just two days.

Filming at sea and at a busy port area that was still under construction meant we had to ensure our cast and crew adhered to health & safety regulations.

One of the potentially trickiest scenes to shoot was achieved with some pretty low-tech means in the end. We needed our lego figure to fall away from the camera and out of focus, seemingly lost to the sea. Some green screen, glue and a lazy suzan to the rescue!

We were delighted with the reception of the film, and had some amazing feedback:

What a great video, actually had goosebumps while watching and a lump in my throat thinking about the possible outcomes. Really hits home.
Love it - fantastic message and a well-made video.
Fantastic video. Really good message delivered in a very different style to “you must do this, and must do that”.
